An utti (ఉట్టి) is a woven hanging holder – a sling of rope or cord that hangs from the ceiling and holds a pot.
How the utti is used
-
Krishna Janmashtami – a pot of curd or butter is hung in an utti for utti kottadam, remembering little Krishna stealing butter.
-
In the kitchen – traditionally, pots of curd, butter and milk were kept in an utti, out of reach of animals and children.
-
Gruhapravesham – one utti is included in our Gruhapravesham kits.
Hang it from a strong hook and check the knot before placing a full pot in it.
